The first CD "to the point" anticipates what will later be the quintessence of Quintessence: The analysis of jazz from different points of view. Standards and original pieces are mixed. A classical musician already sneaks in: Mozart. The ensemble won the Westphalia Jazz Award 1997 with "to the point". The CD got brilliant critics in the "ZEIT". It also shows the essence of the music played by Quintessence: The CD plays with known elements, mixes them and shows old familiar in a new light merely by the unusual instrumentation.
