Yes, it is audacious indeed, the idea to renovate the very symbol of all that is classical in music. For this reason it becomes very appealing to rewrite Beethoven's symphonic score for five saxophones without losing the imposing character of the piece. Only once has someone dared to transcribe the symphony for two hands and that was Franz List.
